DESCRIPTION: This template has one staff for each of the needed transpositions. It also has a Staff Set programmed to permit a view of one voice from each part.

When you open the template (in Finale 2008 or later) and view it in scroll view, it should display only five staves, one for each of soprano 1, soprano 2, alto, tenor, and bass. 

USING THE TEMPLATE: You should do most of your work in the staff set view (viewing only 5 staves); this will allow you to scrub and tweak your work to perfection before copying it to the other staves. 

At this point, please send us the MUS file for a progress check and comments. If there are changes to be made, this is the very best time to make them.

Once you are happy with how your arrangement sounds, go through it again, making sure your articulations, dynamics, phrasings, rehearsal measure numbers, repeats, and text markings are exactly as you want them.

Once this is done, please send us the MUS file again.

When this is done, change to view all staves, and copy the existing part in each voice to all the other parts in that voice.

This is easily done with a mass instant copy: click once to the left of the source staff to highlight all the music in that staff. Then position your cursor over the beginning of the first measure of the destination staff, hold the Ctrl key (PC), and click. All the music from the source staff should be instantly copied to the destination staff.

After copying music to all the staves in a voice, you will need to fine-tooth the newly-copied staves, to make sure all the other elements (dynamics, phrasings, text markings, etc.) Were copied. You will probably have to manually re-create some of these (particularly dynamics hairpins and text markings) as your copy settings may not be set correctly, or Finale might just fail to get them all.

Once you have all the parts updated with all music and other elements, you can then format the parts and continue with the rest of the production per the guidelines.
